Woman’s headless body found on train

Puri: Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel Wednesday recovered the headless body of a married woman from the toilet of Puri-Gunupur passenger train (58471) here.
In another incident, the GRP personnel found a severed head of a woman from the tracks near Delang station in the district which is suspected to be that of the torso.
“We suspect that the recovered body and head belong to the same woman. Some miscreants might have killed the woman after raping her. They have dumped the body and head at two different places,” said a GRP official.
Police found a blood-soaked black polythene bag and a piece of fabric near the severed head.
“The miscreants might have carried the severed head in the polythene bag. The age of the victim is believed to be within 30 to 40 years. A pair of red-coloured bangles was seen on the wrists of the torso which was draped in a red saree. The severed head was found with earrings,” said a source in the GRP.
GRP police sent the body for post-mortem after registering a case of unnatural death. They have initiated a probe into the incident by engaging a scientific team and sniffer dogs.
Sources said some passengers spotted the headless body in the toilet just before it started its journey from Puri station. They informed the incident to the station master and GRP personnel.
Station authorities detached the coach from the train and kept it at Platform No 9.
