Bhubaneswar: State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson Lopamudra Baxipatra and State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) chief Minati Behera Sunday resigned from their posts.
Biju Janata Dal sources said party supremo Naveen Patnaik appointed Minati Behera as the president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal in place of party MLA Pramila Mallick who was appointed as vice-president of Biju Janata Dal and also advisor of Biju Mahila Janata Dal. Similarly, Lopamudra Baxipatra was appointed as the working president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal along with Srimayee Sweta Snigdha Mishra, Sulochana Das and Geetaanjali Bastia.
Both Lopamudra Baxipatra and Minati Behera resigned before their tenure to concentrate and devote more time on the party’s organisational work.
BJD sources said the party supremo reconstituted the Biju Mahila Janata Dal by appointing new office-bearers to strengthen it at the grassroot level and make it more effective.
