Bhadrak: Healthcare services were affected at Barpada community health centre on the outskirts of Bhadrak Saturday as the hospital premises and wards were waterlogged following heavy rains.
Patients and hospital staff had a tough time trying to wade through knee-deep water while the health department has not yet taken any step to drain out water from there, locals alleged.
As the floors were under water, relatives of patients could not find place to sit near them, it was alleged.
Reports said, knee-deep water lay stagnant on the floors of outdoor wards, medicine dispensary, dressing room, waiting room, patholab and several other wards.
People from 25 panchayats like Daisingh, Ganijang, Kaupur, Odanga, Ramkrushnapur, Rapur, Chhayalsingh and Randia depend on the hospital.
Medical officer Prafulla Nanda said the chief district medical officer and higher-ups of the health department had been intimated about the water-logging problem in the past, but no step has been taken.
