Ranpur/Kaptipada: Three persons died reportedly due to sunstroke in Nayagarh, Koraput and Mayurbhanj districts.
In the first incident, Pashuram Mansingh, 65, of Andharua village under Ranpur block in Nayagarh district died of sunstroke Saturday. Police registered a case of unnatural death and handed over the body to the family after autopsy. According to family members, Mansingh had gone to work at his farm Saturday morning. He was supposed to return home before noon. Family members grew apprehensive and went to search for him after he did not return. His son Alok went to the farm only to find him lying unconscious. In an auto-rickshaw family members rushed him to Ranpur government hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Similarly, an elderly man allegedly died of sunstroke at Raiopal under Sharat police limits in Mayurbhnaj district Saturday. The deceased was identified as Arjun Biswal, 65. Biswal was sitting on the verandah of his house when he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the Udala hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. His family members claimed that he died of heatstroke. Police registered a case of unnatural death and the body will be sent for post-mortem.
In the third incident, heatstroke reportedly claimed the life of a farmer at Jaguguda under Bandhugan block in Koraput Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Manda Tunuka. He was tilling his land early in the morning. As he did not return home for hours, his family members searched for him and found him lying unconscious in the farmland. His family lodged a complaint alleging that the man died of sunstroke.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted, the police said.
