Dharmasala: Incessant rainfall for the last two days at Dharmasala block has flooded several areas paralysing normal life and affecting vehicular movement. The main road of Gamphu village under Kayema panchayat of this block in Jajpur district is more or less submerged.
Major roads of this block are already under water and most buildings have been flooded. The residents are having a harrowing time trying to lead a normal life. They are apprehensive that they will soon be hit by diseases like dengue, malaria and typhoid.
Locals alleged that they have approached the tehsil and block level officers several times in the past to prevent such a situation, but their appeals have fallen on deaf ears.
“During the monsoons we suffer a lot. With roads marooned we get disconnected from other places. We have appealed to the administration a number of times to adopt preventive measures. But nothing has happened,” alleged the locals.
