Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal (BoB), which may trigger heavy rain in some part of the state from Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed Tuesday. “Incessant rain will continue in the state for the next five days under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, which has formed over east central BoB,” said IMD’s Manorama Mohanty. According to the weather agency, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, Subar napur, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh till 8:30am Wednesday. Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. There is a yellow warning of heavy rain for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh during the subsequent 24 hours.

June 27, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Nuapada, and Bargarh. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Subarnapur and Nuapada.
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Sambalpur and Bargarh while heavy rainfall may occur in Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts June 28. Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal during this period. June 29, heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts.
