Bhubaneswar: A heavy rain with thunderstorms is likely to lash over several parts of the state during the next four days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin said Thursday. According to regional Met centre here, heavy rainfall with lightning will occur in several districts starting Friday. The low-pressure area over north Bangladesh and the neighbourhood is likely to move nearly westwards across West Bengal during the next 48 hours, the weather bulletin said. “A cyclonic circulation is also likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood around Saturday,” it added.
The weather agency has predicted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda during the next 24 hours. Bhubaneswar may experience cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower, the weather agency said. August 24, heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely at one or two places in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Angul and Dhenkanal, the weather bulletin said.
“Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Deogarh,” it further said. According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning may continue at one or two places in Sambalpur, Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Subarnapur and Boudh August 25. “Thundershowers may also occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Deogarh and Dhenkanal district, the weather agency said. The Met centre issued the yellow warning for Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada and Deogarh, Dhenkanal districts August 26.
