Heavy rains damage houses in Nuapada

Nuapada: Torrential rains that lashed the district in the past four to five days have left many areas marooned in this district. It has also caused extensive damage to property in the region.

Many houses in tribal pockets have been damaged owing to strong wind, heavy rains and thunderstorm.

Trees and electric poles have been uprooted and a number of bridges were washed away. Vehicular movements have been hit in many areas. The situation is yet to become normal even though rains have subsided.

Swelling Indra river near Boden block continues to cause panic among people residing on its banks.

Most of the houses were damaged when uprooted trees fell over them.

Sailendra Karua of Bolda village sustained critical injuries after a wall collapsed on him owing to heavy rain. Luckily, his two children Tuna and Boby escaped unhurt. The affected people have approached the government seeking help.
