Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday exhorted new recruits of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) to put in their best for growth of the power sector as well as the PSU.
Congratulating the new recruits at their induction programme, he urged them to follow the 3T mantra of Teamwork, Transparency and Technology in their assignments.
The Chief Minister said, “It gives me great pleasure to be a part of this induction programme. I congratulate all new recruits and urge them to give their best for the growth of Odisha power sector as well as OPTCL.
“This programme is being organised by OPTCL for the last three years. I am happy to note that in 2010 OPTCL has recruited 1662 professionals from various disciplines including this batch of 81 professionals from finance, electrical and administration,” Patnaik said. He not only praised the OPTCL management for its expeditious recruitment process, but also reiterated the state government’s commitment to creating more jobs and that he would be personally monitoring its progress.
“The OPTCL has created ample employment opportunity for the youth of Odisha. Our government is committed to creating more jobs and I would be personally monitoring its progress,” he said.
Energy minister Susanta Singh expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his administrative and budgetary support to the power sector.
“Chief Minister has recently approved implementation of 7th Pay Commission for OPTCL employees. The promotional avenues and allowances in OPTCL are far better compared to other state PSUs. The newcomers should feel proud to begin their career in OPTCL and deliver their best professional ability for the growth of OPTCL as well as Odisha power sector,” he said.
Energy secretary-cum-commissioner and also OPTCL CMD Hemant Sharma said, “the state-funded Odisha Distribution Strengthening System Project (ODSSP) worth Rs 3843 crore is also implemented by OPTCL. The progress and impact so far is praiseworthy. The scheme has resulted in good improvement of voltage profile in the state.”
OPTCL sources claimed that the system availability of OPTCL was 99.99% which is the highest in the country. OPTCL has been strengthening the grid network in the state reaching 144 as on date. OPTCL is also the frontrunner in the country in implementing many high-end technologies like smart grid, gas insulated sub-station (GIS), SCADA and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) among others.
