Hilsa fish price drops in Paradip market

Paradip: The local market was flooded with Hilsa fish after a bumper catch Friday, reports said.

While the fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea due to the forecast of heavy rain, the sea mouth areas were swarmed with Hilsa.

With the bumper catch, the price of Hilsa has also dropped.

A pair of Hilsa weighing between 200 grams and 300 grams was sold for Rs 120, while the fish weighing more 300 grams was sold in the range of Rs 500-Rs 700, reports said.

When the news spread, the traders and fish lovers thronged Atharabanki Balliplot, causing a traffic jam at Atharabanki Golei chhak.

The police had a harrowing time to control the traffic.
