Bhubaneswar: An investment of over Rs 25,000 crore is planned by the company in various upcoming projects as well as expansion of already existing industries in the state, said Hindalco Industries Limited Odisha president Ardhendu Mohapatra during a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo here, Wednesday.
Mohapatra said, “Hindalco is setting up a two million tonne per year alumina refinery at Kansariguda in Rayagada district with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore. A 1,000 megawatt floating solar power project is planned at Hirakud with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.”
He further said that the company is spending about Rs 7,000 crore for the expansion of its Aditya Aluminium Smelter plant at Lapanga in Sambalpur.
“Apart from strengthening the economy of the region, the new projects will generate massive local employment,” he said.
Mohapatra informed Deo that the company has already invested over Rs 33,000 crore in various operational industrial units within the state and has provided direct and indirect employment to over 21,000 people.
Deo assured Mohapatra of all possible support from the government and also urged him to provide employment to local people in all the existing as well as upcoming projects.
