Hindi film actors who refused to play second fiddle to other stars

Hindi film actors enjoy an almost god-like status in India. Loved and revered by many, these superstars are proud and privileged who never want to play second fiddle to rival actors.

Here is a list of such actors and actresses who refused to play second fiddle to other stars.

Kareena Kapoor:

Kareena Kapoor was offered to play the second lead in the Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ directed by Anand L Rai. The character was played by Anushka Sharma after Kareena refused the gig.

Shah Rukh Khan:

Shah Rukh refused to play the second lead to Ranveer Singh in the film ‘Padmavat’. He made himself unaffordable in order to prevent playing the second lead role. The role was then played by Shahid Kapoor.

Shah Rukh also refused to play the role of an air force pilot in the film ‘Rang De Basanti’ since he never wanted to play a smaller role in ‘Rang De Basanti’. The role of the pilot went to Madhavan.

Juhi Chawla:

Juhi Chawla, one of the most talented actresses who ruled the Hindi film industry in the 90s, refused Karishma Kapoor’s part in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ since she did not want to play second fiddle to Madhuri Dixit.

Farhan Akhtar:

Farhan Akhtar refused a vital role in Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold’ as he never wanted to play a second lead to Akshay Kumar especially after playing the lead in a sports super-hit film like ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.

Armaan Kohli:

Armaan Kohli never wanted to play the second lead in ‘Deewana’ starring Shah Rukh Khan. Kohli believed it was him who gave Shah Rukh his big break.

Jacqueline Fernandez:

Jacqueline Fernandez refused to be a second actress and never wanted to play a subordinate role next to Parineeti Chopra in ‘Namastey Canada’ which also stars Arjun Kapoor.

Hrithik Roshan:

Though Hrithik played Shah Rukh’s brother in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, he refused to be the second lead in ‘Main Hoon Na’. Instead of Hrithik, Zayed Khan played the role.

Saif Ali Khan:

Saif refused to play the second lead in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and the role was bagged by Salman Khan.
