RAAZI (2018)
This espionage story is based on the novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ by Harinder Sikka. During the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, Sehmat, the daughter of a Kashmiri businessman, trained as a spy and married a Pakistani officer for the sole purpose of providing ‘India with classified information during the 1971 war.’

It features Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam in lead roles. The war drama is based on the surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army 11 days after Pakistani militants killed 19 soldiers in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, in 2016.
PADMAN (2018)
This film drew inspiration from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a man from Tamil Nadu who developed a low-cost machine to make sanitary pads. In the movie, Akshay plays Lakshmikant Chauhan, who is determined to provide women with safe and low cost sanitary pads and promote menstrual health.
AIRLIFT (2016)
The film is based on the mass departure of Indians from Kuwait in 1990 during the Gulf War. The story revolves around a Kuwait-based Indian businessman named Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar) and is based on the real life of Mathunny Mathews. The film shows that when Iraq attacked Kuwait, Katyal helped ‘airlift’ thousands of Indians stranded in the country.
STREE (2018)
The horror film is based on an urban legend, ‘Nale Ba’ (come tomorrow), that was popular in Bengaluru in the 1990s. According to legend, a witch named Stree called men by their name and preyed on them.
PADMAAVAT (2018)
The period film is based on the legends surrounding Padmavati (Padukone), a Rajput queen famed for her beauty and wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, hears of her beauty and attacks her kingdom to claim her.
BAJIRAO MASTANI (2015)
This Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is about the life of Maratha Peshwa Bajirao Ballal. In this film, Ranvir Singh played the Maratha leader, and the roles of his two wives Kashibai and Mastani were essayed by Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, respectively.
THE ATTACKS OF 26/11 (2013)
The attack of 26/11 is based on the Mumbai terror attacks, 2008 that lasted four days and claimed nearly 170 lives.
