Bolangir: Some nurses at the Bolangir Government Medical College and Hospital here have come under the scanner after they allegedly meted out shoddy treatment to a HIV-affected pregnant woman on coming to learn of her affliction.
The incident, according to delayed reports, occurred Thursday.
It is alleged the nurses checked the woman’s papers and on finding she was HIV-affected, refused to shift her to the labour room and instead left her lying on the veranda of the gynaecology and obstetrics ward.
Later, however, she was taken to the labour room where she delivered a baby girl. She was then shifted to the first floor of the ward, but was not given a bed following which she and her newborn had to lie down on the verandah. The nurses also misbehaved with her relatives accompanying her.
Media persons brought the matter to the notice of the CDMO, Dr Sugyanendra Mishra, who assured of a probe on receipt of a complaint.
