Chandigarh: Photographs of the Gandhi family are conspicuously missing from posters of a August 4 Congress event, being organised by former Harayna Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son Deepender Hooda to announce a ‘show of strength’ in their hometown Rohtak August 18.
The posters and banners carry only the photographs of the father-son Hooda duo. Hooda senior is expected to start his election campaign at the August 18 ‘Parivartan Maha Rally’. “The Hoodas’ can also announce a new political outfit at the Rotak rally,” a senior Congress leader said.
Deepender refused to comment on missing photographs of the Gandhi family. As many as 12 Congress legislators have been demanding removal of state party chief Ashok Tanwar and handing over of the party’s reins to either of the Hoodas in the runup to the Assembly elections, slated in October.
Asked last week about the demand for change in the state leadership, Hooda senior said his supporters had sent a resolution to the Congress high command. Now it’s their call on the issue, he added.
Former two-time Chief Minister and his son faced a humiliating defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections from Sonipat and Rohtak seats, respectively.
