Kendrapara: The District Enforcement Squad Wednesday raided many hotels and restaurants located by the side of the Paradip-Daitary Expressway in the district, and seized 14 domestic cooking gas cylinders. Fines were imposed on three of the hotels.
Acting as per the orders of Collector Samarth Verma, a 10-member team of the District Enforcement Squad led by Sub Collector Jyoti Shankar Mohapatra comprising the CSO, Senior Inspector of the Legal Metrology Department, Food Inspector, Labour Officer, the Additional Tehsildar of Kendrapara and the Marketing Inspector of four blocks raided hotels Saikrishna, Manas, Sri Jagannath, Ashirbad, Devi and Chandi Dhaba to ascertain food quality, availability of minimum facilities and to rescue child labourers and destroy stale food.
Although the squad failed to find child labourers in the hotels they seized 14 domestic cooking gas cylinders, said CSO Rajanikant Das.
The squad fined the owners of hotels Manas, Ashirbad and Devi and collected Rs 15,000 from them for cheating customers. The squad also destroyed stale food.
The squad also raided the Chandol-based ‘Rudrani’ petrol pump Wednesday to ascertain whether there was adulteration of fuel and to check whether customers are being cheated, said CSO Das.
