House adjourned after uproar over fuel price hike, teachers’ strike

Bhubaneswar: The House was adjourned till 3.00 pm following huge uproar by the BJD over fuel price hike and opposition Congress over the ongoing teachers strike.

The Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House after both the Congress and BJD members trooped into the Well raising slogans against rise in petrol and diesel prices blaming the BJP-led government at Centre.

The noise grew louder after Congress demanded the BJD government to listen to the agitating teachers, who have been protesting at lower PMG since September 5 to meet their demands.

As the House began in the morning, the Speaker accepted an adjournment motion on teachers strike moved by the Congress. While School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra was to furnish reply on the issue, the Congress members disrupted the proceedings.

The pandemonium seems to continue in the House till the Centre rolls back fuel prices and State resolves the teachers’ issue.
