House adjourned for day after Oppn ruckus

Bhubaneswar: The proceedings of the state Assembly was adjourned till Tuesday as opposition Congress and BJP members rushed to the well of the House Monday and raised slogans against surging fuel prices and the alleged cooperative bank and Omfed scams.

Soon after the House assembled at 10.30 am and the Speaker Pradip Amat started the proceedings, Congress party members led by their Chief Whip Taraprasad Bahinipati rushed to podium of Speaker and raised slogans against fuel price hike. They demanded adjournment of the House. BJP members also protested against the alleged Omfed and cooperative bank scams in the state.
Though Naveen changed his daily route to the Assembly from his residence, Naveen Niswas, he arrived nearly three minutes late. The House was adjourned when the Chief Minister preparing his reply during the Question Hour.
Speaking to the media outside the House, Congress MLA Chiranjib Biswal said, “The Speaker deliberately adjourned the House to avoid the discussion on important issues related to the Home Department scheduled today.”
