Bhubaneswar: Following hot debates on several issues during 11 business days, the monsoon session of the Assembly was adjourned sine die Thursday.
Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House for an indefinite period at 1.30 pm. The monsoon session began September 4.
During 11workings days, 12 important Bills including the Appropriation Bill for supplementary budget were passed, nine obituary references including that of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were given, three adjournment motions moved and two demand discussions held.
Similarly, 113 papers and 18 annual reports of various government-run organisations have been have been laid during the session.
Besides, three important resolutions for formation of Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad), naming of Jharsuguda airport after Veer Surendra Sai and inclusion of Ahimsa (non-violence), in the Preamble of India’s Constitution were passed during this session.
Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera also tabled the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year ended March, 2017 on General and Social Sector.
However, the Question Hour could not run smoothly even for a single day throughout the session. The Question Hour remained stormy over scams in agriculture, cooperative and Omfed and unsavoury remark made by Abhijit Iyre Mitra on Sun Temple at Konark. The issue of block grant teachers of 1,500 colleges and 4,000 schools also prominently figured in the House over which the members created ruckus.
The leader of the House and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and BJP Legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo thanked all for their cooperation in conduct of the House.
