Bhubaneswar: The state Assembly Monday mourned the death of a former minister, four former members who died in the intervening period of 14th and 15th session of the current Assembly. The House also condoled the death of security personnel who laid down his life for the country during the period.
Soon after the Governor Ganeshi Lal addressed the Assembly, Leader of the House and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the obituary reference to condole the deaths of former minister Chaitanya Majhi, former members – Nityananda Gartia, Raj Kishore Pradhan, Parsuram Panda, Ratna Manjari Devi and former Lance Naik, Hemanta Kumar Panda of 46, Rashtriya Rifle.
The Chief Minister expressed his profound grief over the deaths and requested the Speaker PK Amat to convey the condolence of the house to the bereaved families.
He was supported by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, BJP legislature Party Leader KV Singh Deo and Laxman Munda (CPM).
The House observed one minute silence in memory of the departed souls after the Speaker expressed his grief and condoled the deaths.
