Rupsa: Passengers aboard Howrah-Yesvantpur Duronto Express had a close shave after the superfast express train collided with the equipment kept on the track at Rupsa junction in Balasore district Friday.
The train experienced a jolt and almost got off the tracks. That said, it somehow managed to remain on the track and there have been no casualties in the incident.
Sources said, the mishap took place when the train, which was on the up line, was passing through Rupsa junction on platform 1.
The pressure chamber and the front part of the train suffered damages and the hose pipe got snapped in the mishap. The train has been stranded since 2:02pm and engineers have been pressed into service to carry out repairs, it was learnt.
Passengers have expressed their unhappiness over lack of safety measures and the delay in carrying out repairs.
