Koraput: The matriculation examination results in Koraput district published Tuesday was the lowest in the state with the pass percentage remaining at 50.61 per cent, a report said.
Om Prakash Priyadarshini Swain of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir in Koraput became the topper in Koraput district by securing 558 marks— 93 per cent— in the examination.
Monalisa Kumari Parida of Aurobindo School of Integral Education in Damanjodi came second by securing 549 marks –91.5 per cent— and Akhyurna Barik of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir in Sunabeda came third by scoring 543 –91 per cent— in the examination. This has sparked concern among the guardians as they pondered over reasons behind the lowest pass percentage.
Similarly, four other students— Manas Mandal, Subham Patnaik and Sritam Behera of Sarada Vihar in Jeypore and Swagatika Mohapatra of Saraswati Sishu Mandir in Aurobindo Nagar— have received A-1 grade by scoring 540 marks each.
This year, 12,544 students appeared for the examination of which 6,339 students passed the examination. The pass students included 3,332 girls and 3,007 boys. Among them, seven students got A-1 grade, 80 A-2, 127 B-1, 308 B-2, 672 C, 1,957 D and 3,188 E grades. A total of 60,187 students have failed in the examination.
This year, 12,544 students of 269 high schools appeared the examination at 62 examination centres. Among them 18 students were caught for malpractice during the examination.
