Berhampur: A total of 105 kilograms of cannabis have been seized and seven people have been arrested after two Excise department teams raided various parts of this city, officials said Monday. During the raids, Excise officials also confiscated a car and a two-wheeler. Seven cases have been registered in this regard; officials informed and added that all those arrested have been produced in court. Deputy Superintendent of the Excise department, Kuber Sethi stated that more such raids are on the anvil. Officials also informed that the seized cannabis was being smuggled from Mohana in Gajapati district to parts of Bihar.
However, the vehicle carrying the contraband was intercepted by police late Sunday night and driver Deepak Nayak was arrested. Approximately 75kg of cannabis was found in the vehicle (OD-05-U-2315). Later on, after the interrogation of Deepak, Excise officials conducted raids Monday at various places in this town and seized another 30 kilograms of ganja.
