Bolangir: A lady teacher working at Durgapali village under Puintala block in Bolangir district was attacked by her husband with a sharp weapon inside the school Wednesday.
According to a police source, the Sanskrit teacher was identified as Sanjurani Debta of Durgapali high school and the accused husband as Pradeep Panda. The man attempted to kill his wife by slitting her throat.
The accused husband also works as a teacher in Bolangir.
Sanjurani got married one year ago. Pradeep started torturing his wife for dowry a few days after the wedding. Subsequently, unable to bear the torture, the victim started living separately in a rented house at Durgapali.

Pradeep went to his wife’s school at around 11.00am. He told the woman to come to his home for a discussion on an important issue. As the victim refused, he got annoyed and attacked her with a knife.
Fortunately, Sanjurani was rescued by some of her school staffers who were present nearby. Later, they rushed her to Santha Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir. Besides, they overpowered the accused and handed him over to Puintala police. The police have initiated a probe which is underway, the official informed.
