Indo-Asian News Service, Patna, Jan 12: Jitan Ram Manjhi Monday said he will continue to be the chief minister of Bihar.
On being told by the media at his weekly ‘janata durbar’ that some Janata Dal-United leaders wanted to oust him, Manjhi said he will continue to be the chief minister “for now”.
He said former chief minister and senior JD-U leader Nitish Kumar was the best candidate but the next chief minister should be a Dalit.
“Nitish Kumar is the best option… but the next chief minister should be a Dalit,” Manjhi said in Hindi.
He said Dalits in Bihar have become united after he became chief minister.
“Dalits are now supporting the JD-U and it would help the party in the next assembly polls,” he said.
