Bhubaneswar: The 20th annual conference of Indian Arthroplasty Association (IAA), themed ‘Simplifying Techniques and Technologies’ was inaugurated at a city hotel here Friday. Organised under the leadership of senior consultant, Orthopaedics and joint replacement surgery in Apollo Hospitals Debabrata Padhy, the event will conclude October 20.
For the first time in the state, a cadaveric pre-conference workshop on joint replacement techniques was held at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here. Over 600 doctors, including 50 senior specialists participated in live demonstrations of nine advanced surgeries.
Speaking at the event, chief guest Padma Shri Krishna Mohan Pathi lauded the initiative and said, “This conference has set a new benchmark in terms of knowledge-sharing and skill development in joint replacement.” IAA president M Ajith Kumar emphasised the significance of the event, stating, “This conference marks the culmination of a year-long effort to advance joint replacement practices across the country.” Secretary Rajkumar Natesan added, “Our association now has over 1,000 active members working to elevate the standard of treatment nationwide.”
