Bargarh: Police Monday busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit at Bahiapadar village under Barpali police limits in this district and arrested three persons including an ITI trained youth in this connection.
The accused were identified as Jitu Biswal (23), an ITI trained youth of Bahiapadar, Manabodh Bhue (22) of Ekrama Square under Sadar police limits and Bahadur Pradhan (45) of Charpali.
Two country-made guns, a revolver, a pistol, gun-making materials and a bike were seized during the raid.
A case was registered and the accused were produced in a court which remanded them into judicial custody.
Police said they were carrying out vehicle verification on Bargarh-Bolangir road Sunday when they intercepted Bahadur and Manabodh on a bike. They seized a country pistol from their bike’s case.
The duo was taken to the police station and during interrogation they revealed about the gun-making unit to the police.
Police raided the unit in Bahiapadar and arrested the prime accused Jitu. During interrogation, Jitu revealed that he learnt the art of gun-making by watching YouTube videos and collected scrap for gun-making from a rice mill where he was working.
