Illegal structures near Meghanada wall to be razed

Puri: The district administration has decided to demolish all structures adjacent to the Meghanada wall of Srimandir.

“The administration will demolish all illegal structures near the Meghanada wall of Srimandir August 19,” said Puri district Collector Balwant Singh here, Wednesday.

According to sources, the administration has planned to demolish Singhadwar police outpost, an information centre near Srimandir Lions’ Gate, an installation of Sesu near the shrine west gate, a toilet block near the south gate, a few shoe stands and some shops near the Meghanada wall.

“No permanent or temporary structure would be allowed near the Meghanada wall. However, the buildings of Chauni and Badachhata mutts would be left intact. We may relocate the statue of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das from the Lions’ Gate,” Singh said.
