IMD issues Yellow Warning for heavy rains in these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar Tuesday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha where heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected.

Yellow Warning Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 03.08.2022)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.

Yellow Warning Day- 2 (valid from0830 hrs IST of 03.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 04.08.2022)

Thunderstorms and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar.

Day 3 (No major alert)

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022)

Heavy rains are very likely at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2022)

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Gajapati.

According to the agency, light to moderate rain was experienced in some areas of Odisha today. Although rain brought much-needed relief from the heat, the maximum (day) temperature won’t alter significantly over the following few days.

The maximum temperature is projected to be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal during the next three days. It will then start to drop throughout the regions, IMD said.
