IMD predicts heavy rains over next 48 hrs

Bhubaneswar:  Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue across the state with the depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal intensifying into a deep depression, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.

According to the 1:30pm bulletin issued by the IMD regional centre, over the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Puri.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at few places over the districts of Gajapati, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at few places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Khurdha, Angul, Rayagada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

Meanwhile, sea condition is likely to remain rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised to not venture into Northwest Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha- West Bengal coast over next 48 hours.
