Impasse continues over Mamita murder in Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Impasse continued for the seventh consecutive day in Odisha Legislative Assembly Wednesday. The Opposition and ruling BJD legislators created ruckus in the House leading to adjournment of the daily proceedings, a source said.

According to the source, as soon as the House assembled for the day at 10.30am, the Opposition BJP and Congress members rushed near the Well holding placards and banners in their hands.

The protesting MLAs shouted slogans and reiterating their demand for immediate dismissal of the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra over lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case.

The BJP members, wearing black gamchha (handloom towel), beat ghanta (gong) and waved placards as a token of protest. Similarly, the Congress MLAs continued showing placards and demanding removal of Mishra from the Council of ministers.

As daily proceedings of the House could not be carried out smoothly, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned it till 11.30am.
