Kujang: Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debashish Samantaray Sunday let himself loose while pillorying Paradip MLA Damodar Rout at the Jan Sampark Padyatra Samabesh meeting held at Biswali Drama ground under Zone-4 of Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur district.
“During his long 45 years of political career, Damababu did nothing for the unemployed and displaced youths. Rather, he pulled strings to get employment and contractor works to his sons and nephews.”
Referring to his role during land acquisition for ESSAR, Debashish said it was Damababu who persuaded people to give away their valuable land at just RS 6 lakh. “When I came to know of this I did not let it happen. I stood with the people and fought for their rights because of which they got Rs 19 lakh for the same lands,” Debashish added.
Debashish also did not lose the opportunity to take a dig at Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel.
Jagatsinghpur district observer and Minister Prafulla Samal also targeted Dama in his speech, saying leaders should come closer to the people in true sense instead of showing themselves off.
On seeing people’s acceptance for him, Debashish expressed his happiness and went one step ahead demanding a super specialty hospital, better drainage system and service to the displaced families. If these problems are not addressed, an intense agitation will be organsied December 16, he warned.
Ollywood actor Arindam Roy, MP Kulamani Samal, Paradip Municipal chairman Basant Kumar Biswal, Biju Krushak Samukhya leader and Subash Singh attended the meeting and in their respective speeches they spoke high of various public welfare programmes of the State government. Swaying in the same rhythm they said, the Dama conspirators can hardly do any harm to the popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Anmong others who attended the meeting chaired by Harekrushna Pradhan, youth leader Tapan Kumar Samantray, Manas Parida, Pitambar Tarai, Shankar Prasad Rout attended the meeting.
