Inaccessible road: Pregnant woman carried on cot in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A pregnant woman was carried on a cot at Chaulagheri village under Bangiriposhi block in Mayurbhanj district Thursday morning due to inaccessible road conditions.

According sources, the 102 ambulance failed to reach the spot. The villagers ferried Tumi Singh on a cot for one kilometre. They also crossed a river to reach near the ambulance which was stationed at the main road from where she was taken to Bangiriposhi hospital. Later she was shifted to Baripada hospital.

Though the villagers have been demanding a bridge over the river, no steps have been taken so far.

Earlier, a similar incident was reported September 30.

Sukumani, wife of Bablu Singh of Chaulajori village, experienced labour pain in the morning. Her family members had sought the service of an ambulance.

The ambulance could not reach the village due to the Shankarai creek.

Her relatives carried the woman on a cot across the creek and from there she was shifted to Bangiriposi CHC.
