Harare, July 14: Young Kedar Jadhav (105 n o, 87b, 12×4, 1×6) struck his maiden international century as India thrashed Zimbabwe by 83 runs in the third and final cricket ODI to complete a 3-0 series whitewash, here Tuesday.
Jadhav enabled India recover from a top-order collapse and post a competitive 276 for five after being asked to bat at the Harare Sports Club. He was associated in a 144-run fifth wicket stand with Manish Pandey (71, 86b, 4×4, 1×6) and rescued the side after India had slipped to four for 82.
Chasing the target, Chamu Chibhabha (82, 109b, 7×4) kept Zimbabwe in the hunt but the hosts kept on losing wickets at the other end at regular intervals to be eventually bowled out for 193 in 42.4 overs.
Zimbabwe’s chase never got going after the early dismissal of Hamilton Masakadza (7), who fell leg before to Mohit Sharma (2/33) in the sixth over. Overall the Indians bowled well with seamer Stuart Binny (3/55) picking up wickets at vital junctures. Harbhajan Singh (2/35) and Axar Patel (2/39) also contributed to the hosts’ downfall.
