Actors and actresses of the Hindi film industry work hard on their bodies, their faces and their acting skills. But we often forget their hard work behind mastering the Hindi language. When Hema Malini and Sridevi first came to the industry from the South, they were clueless about the Hindi language but worked their way towards being the No.1 actresses of their time.
But today, there are still many mainstream actresses who have survived at the top despite not being able to speak Hindi properly.
Here’s a look at such divas who can’t speak Hindi.
Katrina Kaif:
Katrina is among the biggest hotties in the film industry. The half-Indian, half-British Kat still speaks Hindi with a foreign accent. Born in Hong Kong, Kaif and her family lived in several countries before she moved to London.
Nargis Fakhri:
Nargis admitted that those lengthy dialogues ruined her performance in ‘Rockstar’. Fakhri was born 20 October 1979 in Queens, New York City, to Mohammed Fakhri, a businessman, and Marie Fakhri, a former police officer. According to the actress, her father was from Pakistan, and moved to the United States for better earnings, while her mother is Czech.
Sunny Leone:
Sunny Leone one of the cutest actresses in this industry has been struggling with Hindi. She still has her American accent and is trying very hard to master Hindi. She is a Canadian-born Indian-American actress and model, currently very active in the Indian film industry.
Lisa Haydon:
Born as Elisabeth Marie Haydon to a Malayali father and an Australian mother, Haydon lived in Australia and the United States, before moving back to India in 2007 to pursue modelling. Comfortable with foreign accent, it surely must be difficult for her.
Jacqueline Fernandez:
This Sri Lankan beauty debuted with the movie ‘Alladin’. If reports are to be believed most of her movies are dubbed. In an interview, she even said that her Hindi has its own accent, which she needs to get rid of. Fernandez was born 11 August 1985 in Manama, Bahrain and was raised in a multi-ethnic family. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is a Sri Lankan Burgher, and her mother, Kim, is of Malaysian descent.
Ileana D’Cruz:
Ileana admits her Hindi is not that good. D’Cruz was born into a Goan Catholic family in Mahim, Mumbai, and raised partly in Mumbai and partly in Goa. Her family relocated to Parra, Goa when she was 10 years old. Her mother tongue is Konkani.
