New Delhi: The Indian women made a mockery of their opponents as they hammered a massive 10 goals past a hapless Turkmenistan in their second encounter of the Turkish Women’s Cup football tournament Friday at Alanya in Turkey.

Sanju (17th, 37th, 71st) scored a hat-trick, while Anju Tamang (51st, 83rd) and Ranjana (60th, 62nd) netted a brace each. Dangmei Grace (7th), Sumithra (77th) and skipper Indumathi Kathiresan (87th) scored a goal each.

The Maymol Rocky-coached side started with a bang as Dangmei gave India the lead early in the match. Sanju doubled the scoreline 10 minutes later before adding her second just minutes before half-time.

The Indians who missed out on a final spot in the inaugural Women’s Gold Cup in Bhubaneswar last month, which include a humiliating loss to lowly-ranked Nepal increased their tempo as Dangmei and Ranjana combined again to add two more. Sanju completed her hat-trick just after an hour mark which was also the third assist of the match for right-back Dalima Chhibber.

The Turkmenistan women’s team, who don’t have a FIFA ranking found it difficult to hold the Indians girls as Sumithra, Anju and Indumathi added three more goals to take India to double figures in the game.

The 62-ranked Indian girls will now face World No.41 Romania in their third game March 3.
