Burdwan (West Bengal): In a bizarre incident an inebriated man allegedly attempted to rape a goat in this district of West Bengal. Following the development, a mob thrashed the person injuring him critically, police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Tikepara village in Kalna area Tuesday evening, a police officer said.

“The owner of the goat had tied the animal to a post in the courtyard of his house and had ventured out for some work. His neighbours claimed that after some time, they heard agonising cries of the animal and when they ventured out they saw the inebriated man attempting to rape the goat. They caught him and thrashed him before the man was ‘rescued’ by the police,” said the police official.
