Paralakhemundi: In an untoward incident that cropped up due to the negligence of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, an infant has been left fighting for life after he was administered expired medicine. The incident has been reported from Jajapur village under Parala town in Gajapati district. As per reports, the 11-month-old baby, son of one Susmita Swain, was given an expired Vitamin-C supplement at the Anganwadi centre of the village, April 7.

After returning home, the child experienced loose motion and vomiting. Sumitra immediately informed the ASHA worker in this regard but after hearing her ordeal, she suddenly burnt the medicine packet.
