INS Chilka concludes cleanliness programme

Chilika: Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka which launched ‘Swachhta as Service’ campaign at the Naval base here September 26 concluded the event Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Enthusiastic Naval personnel, their families, civilians, NCC, trainees and students of KV Chilka took part in the week-long campaign comprising Shramdaan and clean and green environment awareness through lectures for station community.

The students of KV Chilka took Swachhta pledge and performed a street play on cleanliness titled ‘Say No to Plastics’ September 28.

A poster-making competition was organised as part of the programme for the trainees as well as wards of personnel of Station Chilka. A campaign on ‘Plastic Waste Awareness and Management’ was conducted for the station community October 1 which focused on segregation and disposal of garbage, ill effects of using plastic and innovative eco-friendly ways of disposing and using garbage for domestic use among other things.
