New Delhi: In a retaliatory move following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, India has deployed its indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, to the Arabian Sea, where it is reportedly preparing for a missile test.
According to reports, MiG-29K fighter jets and helicopters have been stationed on INS Vikrant. Pakistan, reportedly alarmed by India’s response to the Pahalgam attack, has begun a firing drill near the Gwadar Port.
Satellite images of INS Vikrant have emerged via open-source intelligence, showing the carrier heading toward the Arabian Sea from the Navy’s Karwar Naval Base. INS Vikrant is based at Karwar in Karnataka, near Goa.
The Pahalgam terror attack, linked to the Pakistan-based group The Resistance Front (TRF), led India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), downgrade diplomatic ties, and close the Attari-Wagah border.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has responded by suspending the Simla Agreement and labelling the suspension of the IWT an “act of war,” further escalating tensions between the two nations.
