Intel warns of I-Day terror strike in Delhi

New Delhi: A few days before India celebrates its Independence Day, an input shared by Intelligence Agencies warns of a possible ‘fiyadeen attack’ in the national capital. Following the input which claims that Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) is planning an attack in Delhi, the security forces have been put on high-alert.
As per reports, the warning states that the ‘fiyadeen attack’ might be carried out by Mohammad Ibrahim alias Ismael. He is the former bodyguard of JeM chief Azhar’s brother Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar and has reportedly entered Delhi.
Ibrahim, reportedly, entered Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of May and is now in Delhi to coordinate with JeM cadres here in a smooth manner, a media report which accessed the intelligence input on JeM’s plan said.
It also states that another JeM militant – Muhammad Umar – has recently entered J&K. Both Umar and Ibrahim are reportedly planning out the roadmap of how to go about the ‘fiyadeen attack’. As per intelligence inputs, claimed by a media report, the plan is being formulated under the leadership of Asghar – the operational commander for anti-India operations.
Asghar is the man who was behind the Pathankot IAF base and Nagrota Army camp attacks in 2016. He also played a role in the hijacking of 1999 IC-184 to force the release of Masood Azhar.
The news comes a few days after the Madhya Pradesh police issued an alert informing Delhi and Uttar Pradesh police that militants could target chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The advisory claimed that terrorists might attack UP CM Yogi during his Delhi visit; hence his security should be tightened.

The alert asserted that young boys have been recruited to accomplish the deadly mission. “They could also target important religious places in Uttar Pradesh”, the alert issued by MP police said. Following the alert, security of the Chief Minister’s residence and Lucknow office has been beefed up.
Meanwhile on Saturday, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a strong message to Pakistan, asserted that every infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir from across the border would be thwarted.
“I am here as Raksha Mantri to take care of our borders to stop infiltration. I will keep doing that irrespective of what is happening there (in Pakistan). Our stand remains the same. Every attempt of infiltration will be thwarted,” she said.
