Internet facility in all Cuttack panchayats by December

Cuttack:  Around 290 panchayats in Cuttack district have internet access now and the rest will have the facility by 31 December, said DGM, Telecom Department, at the seventh District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) meeting here Friday.

MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, who presided over the meeting, emphasised the need for internet services in all gram panchayats.

The DGM said 700 fibre to home (FTH) high speed broadband service connections were given in Cuttack city through seven telephone exchanges.

The process of transforming the villages in the district to WI-Fi hubs has already started, officials said.

Mahatab advised the officials to take steps to solve the internet connection issues at the rural branches of banks.

He also advised the officials to provide internet service to all 184 schools in the district to run smart classes.

Topics including Mid-Day Meal, Mamata yojana, Mission Shakti, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Bikas Yojana were discussed at the meeting.

Banki MLA Prabhat Kumar Tripathy, Salepur MLA Praksh Chandra Behera, Zilla Parishad Chairman Jyotirekha Nayak, CMC Mayor Meenakshi Behera, Project Director DRDA Sarojkant Mohanty and other officials have attended the meeting.
