Int’l book fair to engross readers soon

BHUBANESWAR: An organised by Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department is scheduled to be held at Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar from February 20 to 28, 2019.

A meeting in this regard was held at Sanskruti Bhawan here Wednesday. Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi chaired the meeting and emphasised on making the event a success. Among others, Additional Secretary Bijaya Nayak, Bhasha Pratisthana Director Tamasa Rani Das Mohapatra, Santosh Chaterjee and Subhendu Sekhar Ratha were present on the occasion.

The upcoming event has intrigued the curiosity of many book lovers in the city. Hundreds of publication houses from across the glove will participate in the fair.

According to the sources, for a stall of 100 square ft at the ground, a publication house would have to pay Rs 4,500 as charges. To encourage young readers to read more, books of various Indian languages would be sold at a discount of 10 per cent.

In addition to the fair, cultural programmes are scheduled to entertain book lovers during the event. On behalf of Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department, Odisha Sahitya Academy, Odia Bhasha Pratisthana, Harekrushna Mahatab State Library and Odisha Books Publishers and Sellers Association would be organising the fair jointly.
