Paralakhemundi: Officials of the Paralakhemundi Model Police station busted a betting racket at OSRTC garage near Treasury Office here late Monday.
The police conducted a raid Monday and arrested seven persons for running a betting racket in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.
According to reports, police had earlier received information about such a racket and was on alert. The six-member team, led by IIC Bibekananda Swain caught the culprits red-handed and seized cash worth Rs 61,000 and eight mobile handsets, informed SDPO Thakur Prasad Patra.
The arrested have been identified as Madhupa Ranjan Pattnaik (44), Gurrana Santosh (34), Abutala Lokesh (21), Kurumupu Kamesh (26), Tandasa Rambabu (32), Ashis Purkait (36) and Tunu Gouda (42).
