Irregularities alleged in VIMSAR recruitments

Sambalpur: The authorities of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla are facing allegations of irregularities in recruitment to the posts of librarian, pharmacist and clerk.

In its letter No: 446, dated 19.08.2019, the eligibility criteria said, “only retired persons can apply.” This condition is best suited to the vested interests of unscrupulous officials. Most probably, the officials wanted to hire retired individuals who are in their good books.

VIMSAR officials are not following their own recruitment norms, it is alleged. As per rules, all appointments in VIMSAR have to be approved by the board but the board has not held any meeting since months.

One Prof. Dheeraj Maharana had been given charge temporarily by the government. As he is now on leave, Dr Bijay Dutta is holding additional charge. He published the advertisement.

Dr Dutta has no powers to take any decision of a permanent nature as he is holding charge only temporarily. It is apparent that the malafide intentions of unscrupulous officials are behind this move.

Moreover, the recruitment process for the post of librarian which started earlier was also stopped after it drew objections from the public.

On being asked, Dr Dutta said, “There is nothing wrong in our recruitment advertisement.” However, when asked to clarify on whether he has the authority to do so, he avoided the question.
