Kesinga: Thousands of residents of Paralsinga panchyat under Kesinga block of Kalahandi district alleged irregularities in the construction of a Tribal Girls’ Hostel and expressed their discontent as the construction is underway without any information plaque.
The villagers alleged that children of nearby area were employed as labourers by a private consultancy firm for constructing the building.
A girls’ hostel was built near Paralsinga High School by Tribal Development Department as most of the students of the school are from tribal families.
Although, the government is pumping in crores of rupees for developmental projects, villagers here are not able to get the benefit of the developmental projects, thanks to poor quality work done by the concerned departments, contractors and engineers who bungle away all the allocated funds.
Construction of this two-storey building is almost being completed. But the villagers alleged that no information plaque about the project has been put up.
The laborers engaged in the construction of the building were given Rs 170 per day as wage while the state government wage policy for labours should not be less than Rs 275.
When contacted, the District Labour Officer said the matter will be investigated and proper action taken against the concerned contractor or company, if found guilty.
