Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: Though hardly four months are left for the completion of the current fiscal, the information technology (IT) department, one of the major project implementing agencies of the state government, has managed to spend only 37 per cent of its budget provision.
As per an official statement, the department till October has been able to spend only Rs 50.67 crore against the plan provision of Rs 135.29 crore. The department has spent the money on implementation of only three projects – development of Infocity- IT SEZ (special economic zone), horizontal connectivity for OSWAN and district e-governance society.
The government has made budgetary provision for 23 different heads, of which not a penny was sanctioned under 20 schemes.
While a provision for Rs 35.7 crore was shelved, provision was made under the scheme of the 13th finance grant for incentivizing issues of UID, Rs 21.92 crore for e-governance, Rs 10 crore for IIIT Bhubaneswar, Rs 1 crore for establishment of STPIs and Rs 2 crore for incentives under IT policy, no fund was utilized in the projects.
