Berhampur: An open-air scrap sculpture park in the Industrial Training Institute here has made it to headlines by entering the Asia Book of Records. The scrap sculpture park has been declared as the largest open-air scrap sculpture park in Asia.
This was stated here by Rajat Kumar Panigrahi, principal of Berhampur ITI. He said the park shows a new era of teaching concept on design, ability to think, teamwork, integration of skills in various sectors like engineering drawing, welding, sheet metal, masonry, turning fitting and painting with an aim of converting the institute into an education wonderland
The ITI has set a record for conceptualising and designing the largest open-air scrap sculpture museum, measuring 10,000 square metres. This is a new innovative concept of skill development through waste management whose heights range from seven feet to 70 feet. All the sculptures have been designed, fabricated and installed in an open space.
The museum named The Heart, Mind and Hand Show consists of 20 big sculptures namely Giant Guitar, Iron Man, Terminator, Dolphin, Turtle, Helicopter, Chetak, Predator, Spotted Deer, Robot, Reindeer, Lizard, Peacock, Huge Cow, King Kong, Fishing Lure, Tank, Hanging Fish and Giraffe, as confirmed on March 17, 2020.
