Rayagada, August 19: CBI officials Wednesday interrogated a former tehsildar on the 10th day of eighth phase probe into the murder of Itishree Pradhan, a teacher of Tikiri UP school under Kashipur block of the district.
Prashant Kumar Das, a retired senior administrative official who was the tehsildar of Rayagada when the incident took place had recorded dying statements of Itishree.
According to reports, he was asked whether Itishree with her 90 per cent burn injuries, could answer his questions. Officials asked Das whether the statements were recorded before she was administered preliminary treatment. The other questions included – who were present during the recording of dying declaration and who directed him to record the statements.
It may be noted that, Itishree’s statements were recorded at three different hospitals and a particular woman was answering on her behalf at all the three locations. Sleuths Wednesday asked several questions to the former tehsildar about that particular woman. However, tehsildar Das, after being grilled for hours, didn’t skipped the questions of the media.
Later, CBI DSP MK Pathak and inspector RD Sharma went to the court of district and sessions judge and held talks with public prosecutor Ajit Kumar Patnaik over the matter.
