Jagatsinghpur DHH in ‘LaQshya’ aspirant list

Jagatsinghpur: Jagatsighpur district headquarters hospital (DHH) is in the running for ‘LaQshya’ certificate.

LaQshya is a National Labour Room and Maternity Operation Theatre quality improvement initiative launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The final round of assessment to decide whether the DHH is eligible for the ‘LaQshya’ certificate or not, two national-level assessors – Dr Mrinalini Mani and Dr JL Meena – recently undertook the final assessment virtually.

At the outset, chief district medical and public health officer Dr Bijay Panda welcomed the two assessors and then ADMO (Medical) Dr Ajay Kumar Swain presented the facts and figures of the current year as well as the previous year. Basically he informed them that the maternity mortality rate, child mortality rate and infection rate are lower at the DHH compared to that of the state.

Thereafter, Dr Mrinalini Mani and Dr JL Meena were taken on a virtual visit of the DHH beginning from the facility’s entrance to its campus, covering all the sections and wards. They were also informed about the facilities at OT and labour rooms.

On this occasion, the assessors interacted with the staff nurses, the gynecologist, sweepers, attendants and security guards. Dr Rabindranath Pal, Dr Pramod Kumar Nayak, staff nurse in-charge Khulana Barik and Sudhanshu Malini Das were at the labour room and they participated in the discussion, briefing the duo about the facilities at the labour room.

They also discussed in details about the equipment at the cesarean section, labour table, OT trolley, medicine and the rules followed. During the entire period, assessors from the state government were also present.

While Dr Basant Kumar Barik and DPM Chakradhar Jena provided technical support, deputy manager Sukant Kumar Pradhan, assistant manager Sujata Priyambada Das, ADMO Pramod Kumar Barik and Class-IV employees of labour room and OT assisted them.
